Recipe Exchange

I think this could be fun!

My background is Portuguese (Azores) and Irish.  This is one dish that I always enjoyed. 

Portuguese Linguica Soup (my mom's recipe)

3/4 lb linguica (cut into small pieces)
1 cup each of washed lentils, barley and split peas.
1/2 bag of baby carrots (sliced)
3 medium potatoes (cutup) 
1 pkg spinach (washed)

1. Boil on medium heat, linguica, lentils, barley, split peas for one and
1/2 hours, until linguica is tender.  
2. Add water, as necessary, as grains absorb water.  
3. Add sliced potatoes and carrots.  Cook another 1/2 hour until tender.
(Carrots and potatoes could be put in micro-wave before adding to soup to
reduce boiling time).  
4. Add washed spinach for last 10 minutes.  
5. Serve with your favorite bread.

This is a dish I came across when in the Acores.
